My Video is not Processing on Google Drive

UPDATE: 3/19/20

On 3/18, the Google team reached out to let us know that they have identified the root cause of the issue and are working on a fix. You can follow along with their progress here.

Once Screencastify uploads your video to Google Drive, the Google Drive servers take a bit of time to make your video available for streaming. While that process is happening, you'll see the screen below:

Note - some processing time on Google Drive is completely normal. Videos should process fairly quickly. But, video size does impact processing times. If you'd like to take steps to reduce file size, you can consider lowering the maximum frames per second and the maximum resolution of your videos as described here.

Once your video is processed by Google Drive, the video will be available to stream. This will happen automatically - there is nothing you need to do to make your video available for streaming.

In rare cases, Google Drive is unable to process the video. If that's the case, you'll see the screen below:

To get your video to your audience, you can try a couple of things:

  1. Publish your recording on YouTube
  2. Export the video within Screencastify and then attempt to re-upload to Google Drive (this works in almost 100% of cases)
